Below is a project I developed in design lab, which was a portfolio building program for the fellows.
Sunflower Clock is a prototype for a clock that functionally tells the time and physically blooms as a symbolic reminder to make time for personal growth.
The soft and simple aesthetics of the clock are meant to complement and support the clock’s interactive qualities.
Refining the blooming mechanism of the clock took extensive prototyping. The final design utilizes the novelty of paper folding to bloom as the user opens the package.
Once the clock has bloomed, the user is invited to use its package as a vessel to grow a new plant.
