Kitchen Adventures is a 12 month subscription line for ages 7+. As a collaboration with America’s Test Kitchen, each month’s kit includes globally inspired recipes, hands-on projects and stories. I assisted with the conceptual development of the line, from helping to design the overall foundational experience to ideating hands-on projects for each kit. Prapti Verma worked as the lead designer for the line, with support from Ingrid Dragotta and I. More info on the line can be found here.
I lead and executed the design for the hands-on project in the sixth month. Set in China, this month’s activity is comprised of a shadow puppet theater inspired by traditional Chinese shadow puppetry.
The project also came with translucent colored puppets meant to reference traditional colorful silhouette figures made from leather or paper.
The design was informed by a variety of shadow theaters I have made at Little Passports.
